Beatitudes

Part 7

After this, Jesus went up the mountain again and found a place to sit down. His disciples came to Him. Jesus lifted His eyes and looked at them and began to teach them. This is what He taught.

Jesus said,

“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are they who mourn for they shall be comforted.

Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.

Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness: for they shall be filled.

Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the sons of God

Blessed are they that have been persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are the poor, for yours is the kingdom of God.

Blessed are you who hunger now, for you shall be filled.

Blessed are you that weep now, for you shall laugh.

Blessed are you when men shall hate you, and when they exclude you from their company, and reproach you, and call out your name as evil, and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

Rejoice in that day, and be exceeding glad, and leap for joy, for your reward is great in heaven; for this is the same way their fathers treated and persecuted the prophets that came before you.

But woe to you who are rich, for ye have received your consolation. Woe to you that are full now, for you shall be hungry. Woe to you that laugh now, for you shall mourn and weep.

Woe to you, when all men speak well of you, for this is the same way they treated the false prophets.”
