Later, the Pharisees gathered as Jesus taught in the temple, and Jesus asked them a question.
Jesus asked,
“What do you think about the Christ? Whose son is he?”
They answered,
‘He is the Son of David.’
Jesus said to them,
“Why do you call him the son of David when David himself, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, calls him Lord. For David himself said,
‘The Lord said unto my Lord, sit at my right hand until I put your enemies under your feet.‘
If David himself called him Lord, how is he his son?”
No one was able to answer Jesus.
No one dared from that time forward to ask Jesus any more questions.
The common people heard Jesus gladly.
