Parable of the Importunate Widow

Part 3

Jesus then spoke a parable to the twelve disciples in order to encourage them to pray and not become weary,

“There was, in a city, a judge who neither feared God or man.

And there was widow who was trying to get a settlement with someone who had stolen from her. The widow kept coming to the judge and asking for justice.”

The judge finally said to himself,

“‘Even though I do not fear God or have any regard for men, I will still give her justice because if I do not, she will continue to disturb me with her persistent pleas.’

If an unjust judge will render a just verdict, how much more will God avenge his elect, who make petition to him both day and night?

But remember that God is patient and sometimes it seems like he is delaying his justice. That is because God is merciful, even to his enemies.

But when the day comes that the chance to repent ends, then justice will come suddenly and the opportunity for mercy will be over.

When the Son of Man comes will he find faith on the earth?”
