As Jesus continued His ministry, the crowds that followed Him began to grow. There were so many people that just moving from one place to another became difficult.
Jesus moved a distance away from the crowds and began teaching His disciples. Listen to what Jesus told them,
“Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. There is nothing that is now concealed that will not be revealed, and nothing is hidden that will not be made known.
Remember that whatever you have said in darkness will be heard in the light, and things which you have spoken in the most secret place will be broadcast on the housetops.
I say to you my friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body, because that is all they can do. But I warn you to be afraid of the ONE who has the power not only to kill the body but to cast the soul into hell. Fear him.
Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? And not one of them is forgotten in the sight of God. Every hair of your head is numbered, Fear not, you are more valuable than many sparrows.
And I tell you this, everyone who acknowledges me before men, I will acknowledge him before the angels of God. But the person who denies me in the presence of men, he will be denied before the angels of God.
Everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven. But if a person blasphemes the Holy Spirit, he will not be forgiven.
When they bring you before the synagogue and the rulers and the authorities, do not be anxious about how you will answer their charges, or what you should say, for the Holy Spirit will teach you what to say at the time when you are required to speak.
One of the people in the multitude shouted out,
‘Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me.‘
Jesus told him,
“Who made me a judge or a divider over you?”
He turned to the crowd and said,
“Pay attention and keep yourself from covetousness. A man’s life is not measured by the number of things that he owns.”
