On his way to Capernaum, Jesus passed through Galilee. He tried to keep his trip anonymous, seeking rest from the crowds.
He began to teach his 12 disciples, saying to them:
The Son of man will be delivered up into the hands of men.
While the multitudes marveled all the things that Jesus did, he said to his disciples:
Let these words really sink into your mind, for the Son of man will be delivered up into the hands of men. They will kill him, and after he is dead for three days, he will rise again.
The disciples were grieved by what Jesus was telling them.
They did not really understand what Jesus was telling them because it was hidden from them by God. They were afraid to ask Jesus for the details.
